Jackie Taylor Counselling

My work
Sessions are usually once a week for 60 minutes. The first session is for you to outline your reasons for seeking counselling, and for us both to get some idea whether or not we feel we can work together in a way that could benefit you.
I have assisted and supported many people experiencing problems in life.  These problems have included relationship difficulties, poor self esteem and self care, anxiety, employment issues, depression, childhood abuse, bereavement, health problems (including severe and terminal illness), sexuality and gender identity. I do not offer advice or a 'cure', but help with sorting out emotional difficulties.
I use an integrative approach, combining transpersonal, psychodynamic and cognitive theories and techniques (CBT). I will listen to you and help you to identify your problem areas, coping strategies and any unhelpful patterns of behaviour. Sometimes I might work with imagery, drawing or role play, or explore the underlying significance of physical symptoms to help people become more aware of themselves and their response to situations and to others. I adapt my style of working to each individual and their needs.
My background
I have been working as a therapist for over twenty years, registered with the UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) as a Transpersonal Psychotherapist. As a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) I work within its Ethical Framework.
I trained at the Centre for Counselling & Psychotherapy Education (CCPE), gaining Diplomas in Counselling & Psychotherapy, Advanced Psychotherapy, and Supervision.
What is said in sessions is, with specific exceptions, confidential.  I will only discuss the work I do in supervision, and that is done in a way that protects identity. If I believe that someone I'm working with might be a danger to themselves or others, I reserve the right to pass that information on as appropriate, but I would always discuss the matter with the person before doing so.
My charge is £45 per 60 minute session. I have a limited number of reduced fee daytime places available.
Cancellation arrangements and charges
I ask that people give me as much notice as possible if they have to cancel a session. Sessions cancelled with less that 24 hours notice are charged at the full rate. If I ever have to cancel I will also give as much notice as possible.
